CNL CATERING REVIEW
I am writing to express UNISON’s surprise at the content of a power point presentation on the above issue that is currently being distributed to staff.
The power point presentation, which I understand was produced by Craig Smart, very clearly says that the catering review has been endorsed by all three unions. To clarify our position, UNISON do not endorse this process. After speaking recently with members involved it has come to our attention that redundancies may now be an outcome of the process; this was a surprise, as this has not been discussed at either of the meetings that we have attended. It appears that all catering staff may be at risk of redundancy, although no formal notifications have been received. UNISON’s viewpoint from the offset has been that if managed properly, the review had the potential to be carried out without detriment to our members.
In light of the above, I ask that you issue a retraction of the comment to the workforce; and that the presentation is updated and reissued to reflect UNISON’s position.
I would like to reiterate UNISON’s commitment to working with CNL to find a way forward that works for both the organisation and UNISON members.
