Colleagues

Just a couple of things for your attention, firstly an update on the 2015/16
pay claim, and secondly some advice on your UNISON membership if you have
more than one job.

SJC PAY 2015

The Scottish Employers have made a two year offer on SJC Pay for the period
2015- 2017. This followed an initial one year offer of 1% which the trade
unions indicated did not in any way meet our claim. The offer totals 2.5%
for the two year period. How the 2.5% will be split over the two years
hasn’t been confirmed but informal indications from the employers is that
they would favor an equal distribution of 1.25% in each year.

The Joint Trade Unions agreed that the offer did not address the specifics
of our claim in both the value of the offer and the flat rate element (a set
amount of money for everyone, not a percentage rise).

Whilst negotiations on the day did not result in any improvement to the
offer, the employers did agree to come back to a further meeting at the end
of April with their view of the value of a flat rate offer and whether 2.5%
is the maximum value of their offer. At this stage the employers have not
made a commitment to any type of flat rate offer.

As always, further updates will be provided as things develop.

Do you have more than one job?

Did you know that if you have more than one job, even if it’s with
NLC/NLL/Culture NL etc, you need to have a membership that covers both of
them? If you don’t, you won’t be eligible for representation in any
positions that we do not know about.

If you think this may affect you, please contact the branch office on 01698
