We attended the Council meeting this afternoon as promised. At agenda item 10 SNP councillors put an amendment to a short paragraph concerning equal pay to say that equal pay should be paid out to those affected. It was pointed out that an agenda item had been set aside for discussions on equal pay and that it would be dealt with at that point. The amendment fell at a vote of 6-9.
When we came to the agenda item on equal pay the public were asked to leave the gallery. SNP councillors put forward a motion to let the public remain and this also fell 6-9. At this point we had to leave the meeting but hopefully our presence at the Civic and in the meeting was felt and NLC will make the right decision. As always we will keep you all updated.
